An Atlas Air Boeing 767-300, registration N640GT performing flight 5Y-8713 from Frankfurt Hahn (Germany) to Seattle,WA (USA), was enroute at FL350 over southern Greenland when a left outboard spoiler extended fully and uncommandedly resulting in roll. The captain disconnected the autopilot, corrected the bank angle manually, declared Mayday and diverted to Keflavik (Iceland) where the aircraft landed safely about 2 hours later.

The Canadian TSB reported the aircraft reached a maximum bank angle of 18.63 degrees before recovery. The spoiler remained extended until the aircraft descended through FL190, then retracted. The TSB stated: "Maintenance replaced the #2 spoiler power control actuator and the 1L spoiler control module, with operational and leak checks satisfactory."

The aircraft remained on the ground in Keflavik until Jan 9th 2026.
