A Buffalo Airways Boeing 737-200, registration C-GTVO performing flight J0-202 from Goose Lake,NU to Yellowknife,NT (Canada) with 3 crew on board, was climbing through 5000 feet out of Goose Lake when the crew noticed an uncommanded nose gear extension and heard sounds of the nose gear banging against the fuselage. The crew consulted with dispatch and maintenance, declared an emergency with ATC and continued to Yellowknife where emergency services were on stand by for the arrival. During the landing roll on Yellowknife's runway 16 the nose gear collapsed rearward disabling the aircraft on the runway. There was no fire and no injuries.
The Canadian TSB reported company maintenance is investigating the cause of the failure, but so far did not open an investigation.
