The aircraft descended to 10,000 feet and landed safely back on Orlando's runway 36L about one hour after departure.
The FAA reported: "Frontier Airlines Flight 1417 returned safely to Orlando International Airport in Florida around 8 a.m. local time on Tuesday, April 21, after the crew reported a cracked windshield. The Airbus A321 was travelling to George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. The FAA will investigate."
A replacement A321-200N registration N633FR reached Houston with a delay of about 5 hours.
