A JAC Japan Air Commuter Avions de Transport Regional ATR-42-600, registration JA04JC performing flight JL-3837 from Amami O Shima to Kikaiga Shima (Japan) with 27 people on board, was climbing out of Amami's runway 03 when the crew stopped the climb at 3000 feet due to a hydraulic failure. The aircraft returned to Amami for a safe landing on runway 03 about 25 minutes after departure and stopped on the runway. The runway was closed for about one hour.
