A JAC Japan Air Commuter Avions de Transport Regional ATR-42-600 on behalf of JAL Japan Airlines, registration JA07JC performing flight JL-3785 from Kagoshima to Kikai (Japan) with 27 people on board, was enroute at FL200 about 100nm south of Kagoshima when the crew decided to return to Kagoshima suspecting the aircraft had been struck by lightning that had been observed nearby. The aircraft landed safely on Kagoshima's runway 34 about 70 minutes after departure.
