A KLM Cityhopper Embraer ERJ-195, registration PH-NXO performing flight KL-1013 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to London Heathrow,EN (UK), was climbing out of Amsterdam's runway 36L when the crew advised ATC they could not accelerate above 200 KIAS and stopped the climb at FL120. They needed to consult and subsequently decided to return to Amsterdam. The crew advised their approach speed would be above 180 KIAS. The aircraft landed safely on Amsterdam's runway 06 at a higher than normal speed (about 170 knots over ground) about 35 minutes after departure.
A replacement Embraer ERJ-190 registration PH-EZF reached London with a delay of about 2 hours.
The occurrence aircraft returned to service about 45 hours after landing.
