A Jet2.com Airbus A321-200N, registration G-SUNC performing flight LS-1266 (dep May 21st 2026) from Tenerife South,CI (Spain) to Birmingham,EN (UK) with 220 people on board, was enroute at FL350 about 140 nm westnorthwest from Porto (Portugal) when the first officer took control of the aircraft after the captain became incapacitated with a suspected heart attack. Cabin crew looked for passengers with medical expertise while the aircraft descended towards Porto and landed on Porto's runway 17 about 45 minutes later. Emergency services boarded the aircraft to provide assistance to the captain and take him to a hospital.

The airline reported the aircraft diverted after one of the pilots felt unwell.

A replacement pilot was flown to Porto. The aircraft had departed Tenerife with a delay of about 90 minutes, was able to depart again about 10.5 hours after landing and reached Birmingham with a delay of about 12.5 hours.
