A Transavia Boeing 737-800, registration PH-HXG performing flight HV-5161 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Cairo (Egypt), was climbing through FL250 out of Amsterdam when the crew reported they had no autopilot and could not continue. The aircraft returned to Amsterdam for a safe landing on runway 18C about 35 minutes after departure.
The aircraft remained on the ground for about 90 minutes, then departed again but needed to stop the climb again at FL120 reporting they had the same problem (no autopilot) again. The aircraft returned to Amsterdam a second time for a safe landing on runway 18R about 25 minutes after departure.
The rotation was cancelled.
