An Aegean Avions de Transport Regional ATR-42-600 on behalf of Olympic Air, registration SX-OAZ performing flight OA-94 from Rhodes to Karpathos (Greece) with 33 passengers and 3 crew, was climbing out of Rhodes' runway 24 when the crew stopped the climb at 1000 feet due to the left hand engine trailing a large plume of white smoke and turned downwind. The aircraft landed safely on Rhodes' runway 24 about 10 minutes after departure.

The airline reported the crew received indication of an anomaly in the lubricant circuit of the engine and returned to Rhodes.

A replacement ATR-72-212A registration SX-OBL reached Karpathos with a delay of 3:45 hours.
