A United Boeing 767-300, registration N671UA performing flight UA-934 from Newark,NJ (USA) to London Heathrow,EN (UK) with 168 people on board, was enroute at FL370 about 140nm west of Moncton,NB (Canada) when the crew descended the aircraft to FL350, however, ADS-B data suggest the aircraft could not maintain FL350 descending and climbing around that flight level with altitude deviations of up to +/- 300 feet. The crew consulted with maintenance and dispatch due to the loss of autopilot, autothrottle, TCAS and windshear warning functions believed to be associated to the loss of TAT (Total Air Temperature) data. The crew attempted a reset of the TAT system without success, declared emergency and subsequently turned the aircraft around about 80nm northwest of Moncton to return to Newark. The aircraft landed safely on Newark's runway 22L about 90 minutes after turning around.

The Canadian TSB reported the TAT probe was replaced, subsequent testing was satisfactory.

The aircraft returned to service about 22 hours after landing.
