An Iberia Express Airbus A320-200, registration EC-ILQ performing flight IB-1502 from Arrecife,CI to Madrid,SP (Spain), was taxiing for departure from runway 21, crossed the hold short line at the threshold (taxiway E1) and began turning to line up with the center line, when the crew stopped their aircraft seeing another aircraft in the rollout after landing in opposite direction.
A Ryanair Boeing 737-8 MAX, registration EI-IKJ performing flight FR-5910 from Dublin (Ireland) to Arrecife,CI (Spain), had landed on runway 03 and was in the roll out when the A320 crossed the hold short line and then came half way onto the runway. The Boeing crew slowed the aircraft sufficiently to be able to vacate the runway via taxiway E2 about 500 meters short of the A320.
4 minutes later the A320 departed on runway 21.
Spain's Aviation Safety Agency (AESA) is investigating the occurrence.
