A Delta Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration N350DN performing flight DL-2724 from Nashville,TN to Minneapolis,MN (USA), was cleared for takeoff from runway 20R and accelerating for takeoff, when tower spotted a private aircraft had turned the wrong way and was about to cross the active runway. Tower cancelled the takeoff clearance, the crew rejected takeoff and brought the aircraft to a safe stop.
The aircraft returned to the apron but was able to depart from runway 20C about one hour later and reached Minneapolis with a delay of about 50 minutes.
The FAA reported: "Air traffic control cancelled the takeoff clearance for Delta Air Lines Flight 2724 at Nashville International Airport because another aircraft was crossing the same runway. The FAA is investigating the event that occurred around 10:05 a.m. local time on Thursday, July 10."
