A NORRA Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A, registration OH-ATP performiing flight AY-1022 from Tallinn (Estonia) to Helsinki (Finland), was accelerating for takeoff from Tallinn's runway 26 when at about 40 knots the right hand engine (PW127F) failed, the aircraft momentarily pulled to the right but was steered back onto the runway centerline, the crew rejected takeoff. The aircraft returned to the apron.

At the apron the engine overheated and emitted a lot of smoke. "It's properly cooked!" our source commented.

Estonia's CAA opened an investigation into the occurrence.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Tallinn about 53 hours after the rejected takeoff.
