As every year the FAA, despite government shutdown, decided that Santa and his sleigh had to demonstrate they were able to operate safely in US airspace. The appointment was made, Santa, the sleigh and his reindeer his Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder, Blixem as well as red nosed Rudolph were ready for the test, the inspector arrived on time. As every year Santa looked at him with a suspicious look and couldn't help to detect a rifle well hidden under the inspector's coat and thought, oh, not that olde procedure again! Full of power the reindeer began to pull and accelerate the sleigh for takeoff. When Santa rotated the sleigh for takeoff all reindeer suddenly stopped pulling.

Rudolph's friend RAM the rat quickly deployed his wheel and started running but it was too late.

Doing a short hop over the aerodrome perimeter fence the sleigh settled back onto the icy surface of the pole and slid out coming to a stop in a cemetary past the end of the runway. Santa and the inspector were completely stunned, speechless and unable to move mulling what could have happened, especially after a similiar occurrence earlier this year.

Rescue personnel as well as Elves rushed from the aerodrome to assist and recover the airframe. One of the elves finally whispered into the ear of Rudolph: "What happened?" Rudolph responded whispering: "We didn't want to get shot this year again hence we stopped before the inspector could get his rifle out!"

"Oh that wasn't for you", said the elf. "The inspector wanted to see if he could shoot a black hawk for Christmas dinner instead of having bronze turkey again."

Sarah and I wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and successful 2026.
