A Satena Avions de Transport Regional ATR-42-600, registration HK-5130 performing flight 9R-8817 from Barranquilla to Medellin (Colombia), was climbing out of Barranquilla's runway 05 when the crew stopped the climb at about 3000 feet due to the failure of the left hand engine (PW127M). The aircraft entered a hold and subsequently returned to Barranquilla for a safe landing on runway 05 about 40 minutes after departure.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Barranquilla about 20 hours after landing back.
